Huntsman Springs - Celebrate America

Yesterday we loaded up and went to Driggs in the afternoon for the Celebrate America event put on by John Huntsman. An insane amount of things seemed to try to stop us from either going or enjoying our day.  But we didn't let them stop us.

On our way there we stopped and opened the back hatch and our whole cooler fell out and we lost all our ice as well as our lunch was mostly covered with gravel.  Then even though the weather was 80 degrees and practically perfect when we arrived, by the time we got to the front of the face painting line it started to drizzle a little rain and then suddenly the wind started blowing like crazy. It came on so suddenly and with so much force that it really felt like the appocolypse of something.  Folding chairs and unbrellas were flying everywhere, they had to take down the giant TV screens on stage and they cancelled the Duelling Pianos act.

We weren't sure how long the weather would last and the kids were asking to leave at that point so we picked up and went to the car.  We ate lunch in the car while we waited to see if the weather would lighten up.  It looked like it was going to get better, so we decided we would still give it another try.  However, once we got the stroller all packed up again lo and behold one of the wheels snapped completely off rendering it entirely useless!

We were still a little skeptical about the weather and I was wondering how we would be able to make it all the way back over there with 2 preschoolers, a baby who would have to be carried, two backpacks, a camera bag and some blankets and coats.  We still treked on and I am glad we did because we really ended up having a great time.  The kids had a blast dancing to the Beach Boys and the fireworks were amazing.  Q said his favorite part was when they were bopping around a giant beach ball in the audience.  One of my favorite parts was when Lee Greenwood himself sang "I'm Proud to be an American" live during the fireworks show.
